2011 In Review: The Rest

Memorable Meals and Bars:
The Bucksnort Saloon in Colorado was my favorite dive bar. It's a must see - the drive from South up the hill to the bar is an adventure in itself. The saloon is located inside the Sphinx Park community. The Million Dollar Cowboy Bar in Jackson Hole is a distant second - the knobby pine beams make it worth a visit. The best steak of the year goes to The Library in Portsmouth, NH. The best lobster roll was at Red's Eats in Wiscasset, ME (predictable).

The most dangerous drink is the Hand Grenade - pretty much the reason I haven't commented on anything from New Orleans. My Vegas trip was a bit of a blur as well.

Katz's deli in New York is at worth stopping by for a classic experience. I also enjoyed a variety of ramen places in New York. True ramen is starting to get traction all over the country - this is a good thing.

Speaking of delis - The Whitehouse General Store, in Whitehouse NJ was my favorite. The best barbeque was the whole chicken from Shorty's in south Miami - get the sweet sauce.

Best Meal:
My favorite plate was the conch fried rice I had at a random shack in Potter's Cay. Walking through the various stalls is a memorable experience but avoid the conch salad.

Best Bar:
The Provincetown Fast Ferry isn't a bar. They do sell cocktails, however, and the view is unbeatable. After spending years in traffic on route 6 - Boston to Provincetown in 90 minutes is a dream.
